Kate Brosnahan Spade, a former accessories editor at Mademoiselle, was inspired to create the perfect fashionable yet utilitarian handbag after years of searching and being unable to find one. She started designing the ideal bag from her apartment, crafting samples out of construction paper. Combining sleek shapes with vibrant colors in a completely new way, she introduced the "Sam" bag in six different versions. These designs quickly gained popularity among women and fashion editors, sparking a revolution in the world of accessories.
